Respite carers are families who welcome children into their homes and care for them for a short period of time. They are an important support system for parents in-need to manage their issues and strengthen their capacity to care for their own families without compromising on the care and safety of their children.
Sanctuary Care is a community respite care service by Boys' Town. We provide emergency and short-term respite care for babies and children from families in-need. We serve infants and children up to the age of 8.
The children in our care will reside with a respite carer for an agreed upon duration. The respite carer will be expected to care and provide for the child like they would their own for the period that the child stays with them. They are also required to support regular contact between the respite child and their birth family, as well as to work closely with the Sanctuary Care staff.
